Basics of Manufacturing Technology

This course aims to cover the fundamental skills in engineering and to provide students with a broad view of operations within the factory. The students will understand the most common production technologies and the possibilities of the machinery used in the production processes in the engineering industry. After briefly introducing basics of manufacturing technology and processes such as casting, milling and welding, the course will move on to topics in operations management including manufacturing process flow, production planning, bill of materials, factory layouts and others. The students will be given a project or a case study to work in groups.
